About this breach
The listing arrives amid a confirmed intrusion into one of Dell's demonstration environments by the extortion group WorldLeaks, though our team has not attributed this specific dataset to any claiming actor. Dell has publicly said the data taken from that environment was mostly synthetic, or fake, testing material.
Breach Timeline
July 21, 2025: The extortion group WorldLeaks, a rebrand of Hunters International, announced on its dark web leak site that it had stolen 1.3 terabytes of data from Dell, containing more than 416,000 files, and released the material publicly, according to Hackread.
July 21–22, 2025: Dell confirmed that a threat actor accessed its Solution Center, an environment used for product demonstrations and proofs of concept, and told SecurityWeek that the compromised data was primarily synthetic, publicly available, or internal test data.
What Information Was Compromised?
Our analysis found the following data types in this breach: 1,061,897 email addresses, 11,493 phone numbers, 9,486 names, 188 street addresses, and 3 Social Security numbers.
Not every individual is affected by every type of data listed here.
According to our investigation team, the dataset totals 1,061,897 rows. The email addresses make up the overwhelming majority of the records, with names, phone numbers, and physical addresses appearing far less frequently. The presence of Social Security numbers is rare in this dataset, limited to a handful of records, but even a small number warrants attention.
It is worth noting that Dell has characterized data taken from its Solution Center as synthetic or non-sensitive, and CERT-EU's July 2025 cyber brief described the stolen material as mostly synthetic. Whether every record in the dataset our team indexed matches that characterization has not been independently confirmed.
What Are the Potential Risks for Affected Individuals?
For most people in this dataset, the exposure is an email address. That still carries practical risk. Attackers routinely use large email lists for phishing campaigns, and a message that appears to come from Dell or another technology vendor can be convincing even without additional personal details.
For the smaller group of people whose names, phone numbers, or street addresses appear alongside their emails, targeted scams become more plausible. A caller who knows your name and phone number, or a phishing email that references your city, is harder to dismiss than a generic spam message.
The Social Security number exposure, while limited in count, is the most serious category. A Social Security number in the wrong hands can support identity fraud, fraudulent tax filings, or new-account fraud. Anyone who suspects theirs is included should consider placing a credit freeze with the major credit bureaus.
What Is Dell Technologies Doing in Response?
Dell confirmed the intrusion in statements to SecurityWeek and Hackread in July 2025. The company said the Solution Center is a demonstration environment separated from its customer-facing systems and networks, and that no services provisioned to customers were hosted on it. Dell said its investigation was ongoing but did not disclose when the intrusion occurred, how attackers got in, or whether an extortion attempt preceded the leak.
What Should You Do If You Were Affected?
Be skeptical of unsolicited emails or calls claiming to be from Dell, its partners, or warranty services. Verify requests independently through official channels.
If your Social Security number may be involved, consider a credit freeze and review your credit reports for unfamiliar accounts.
Enable two-factor authentication on important accounts, since exposed email addresses are frequently targeted for account takeover.
Report suspicious activity related to your Dell purchases or account through Dell's official support channels.
